F I G H T G O N E B A D 6

September 17th is creeping up on us and CFJAX is bound and determined to host an awesome Fight Gone Bad event this year!  We are honored to do so and our box is looking forward to bringing our entire community together, under one roof, for a great cause.  The CrossFit East family continues to inspire all of us and we are proud to a part of this wonderful community.  Our goal is continue the tradition set forth by CrossFit Amelia Island, by inviting all of you, your members and your members' family and friends to come out and show Jacksonville what CrossFit is all about.  Come out and support your box, gym, garage, workplace or wherever you get your fitness on, and hang out with some cool people…plus, there is FREE BEER!!!

WHAT IS FIGHT GONE BAD…WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL?

Fight Gone Bad (FGB) is a workout simulating a mixed-martial arts fight, combining 5 exercises.  An MMA fight is a 3-round bout with a 1-minute rest in between rounds.  For the workout, each round consists of five exercises with each exercise being 1-minute in duration of work (totalling five minutes).  You then rest for one minute before repeating the same five minute round.  You repeat this cycle until a total of three rounds have been completed.  The total of all your repetitions is your score.  Make no doubt about it, this is a race and a competition for who can perform the most amount of work within the given timeframe.  Test your fitness by doing a 17-minute workout!  (By the way, did we mention that there was going to be FREE BEER?)

WHERE DOES ALL THE MONEY GO?

Since it’s inception the CrossFit community has supported causes ranging from cancer research to local causes in need. In 2006, the Fight Gone Bad fundraising event was launched as a one-day International opportunity for the community to turn out as one to create a lasting philanthropic contribution each year. Since then the Fight Gone Bad fundraising event has raised more than $3 million for causes our community has supported.  In 2010 the CrossFit Foundation was formed to serve as a resource for all of the CrossFit philanthropic activities. The foundation board works in an advisory capacity with the Sportsgrants Foundation on Fight Gone Bad, and in 2010 became one of the event beneficiaries insuring that funds raised by the community served the community.
